Posters

Whether they are a series or a one-off, posters require a strong concept and a striking visual to stop a viewer in their tracks. What I love about designing for posters is their ability to communicate quickly, capture attention and resonate, so that viewer remembers the message.

The Sadie Sneak Preview and Promotional Poster promoted a web series that follows the story of a young woman working in the music industry. The series took place in the indie rock landscape, and I felt it was important to reflect that aesthetic in the designs. The sneak preview poster borrows its style from early 90's grunge rock posters and the design plays to the intrigue for the event. The promotional poster, while still "grungy", is more contemporary. Since the series was already running, the design plays less to suspense and more to the reveal.  Watch the series at www.sadiewebseries.com

The design for Families with a Twist is a play on the title of the event. I decided to work with mythical mixed families in lieu of humans because there are so many ways to be a family and I did not want to have any one type feel excluded. The colors, pattern, and layout give the poster a retro children's book feel without basing it on any one style in particular.

The Segunda LLamada poster was my entry for their competition to promote the dangers of processed foods. The only caveat for submission was that the design had to be in black and white.  The contest was based in Mexico, so I thought it was a natural connection to create a sugar skull warning sign out of some of the most common and recognizable junk foods available.
